ImportantHigh-voltage battery — fire risk, battery replacement (KBA 16136R)
A short circuit in the high-voltage battery can lead to a vehicle fire. Model years 2021–2024, 4,677 cars in Germany. The first fix (KBA 14775R) only changed the battery management — with slower rapid charging (10–80 % about 10–15 min longer) and gradually shrinking usable capacity.
Check: Check by VIN whether the new battery (KBA 16136R) has already been fitted. A software-only state (14775R) means throttled rapid charging and reduced capacity until the swap — allow for it on the test drive / charging test.
Coverage: Mercedes replaces the high-voltage battery free of charge (16136R); the charging and capacity limits then no longer apply. The KBA monitors the action. Status can be checked by VIN at a Mercedes dealer.

EV details
Distance with one ~15-min fast charge at 110 km/h (modelled).
Is it enough for your day-to-day?
One charge lasts 6 days in winter (−10 °C) and 8 days in mild weather.
Using real-world range, charged to 80 %, 10 % reserve: 336 km per charge in mild weather, 258 km in winter.
Fixed reference (roughly Munich–Berlin): leave full, arrive with a 10% reserve, and charge only what the rest of the trip needs (80% max — past that the curve goes flat). Modelled from real-world range and the charging curve.
Mild means ≈ 23 °C, cold ≈ −10 °C without pre-heating — the same for every car, so the figures compare.
What does charging cost?
| €/kWh | Full charge | per 100 km | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Home (wallbox) | €0.34 | €26 | €6.27 |
| Public AC | €0.50 | €38 | €9.21 |
| DC fast charging | €0.60 | €46 | €11.06 |
Prices from the open assumptions (adjustable in the calculator); consumption = mild real-world incl. charging losses.
Charging curve (DC)
NMC: high energy density (more range), usually charge to ~80% for longevity.
