Target and status

Evident aims to conform to WCAG 2.1 level AA (German BFSG, EN 301 549). The current status is “partially conformant”: the automated checks pass, the manual audit has not happened yet. We claim nothing we have not checked — so both are stated here.

What is checked — and how

• Automatically, on every build: 31 axe-core runs across the page families (home, explore, car page, compare, cost, ranking, city and guide pages, radar, model health, methodology, profile, saved) — each in light mode, five of them also in dark mode, four at 390 px phone width. A single serious finding fails the build.
• Automatically, keyboard: a skip link as the first tab stop, search via ⌘K/Ctrl+K or “/” with arrow keys through results, dialogs return focus, every scrollable table is keyboard-reachable, error messages are announced (role=alert).
• Not yet: a manual audit with screen readers (NVDA, VoiceOver) and a user test. It is a condition before public launch; its date will be entered here.

Known limitations

• Charts: the scatter chart in Explore and the value/charging curves on car pages are SVG with a text description; the values also appear in tables or text, but not every curve has a data table.
• Language: the documented model-year issues (recalls, warranties) are currently written in German only and appear as such on English pages — with the language attribute set correctly.
• Motion: transitions are minimal and honour prefers-reduced-motion.
• Target size: inline text links may be smaller than 24 px (a permitted exception); every standalone control is at least 24 px tall.

Report a barrier

A route for reporting barriers (with a reply within two weeks) goes live together with the legal notice before launch; reported barriers are listed here until they are fixed.

Enforcement

In Germany the Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz (BFSG) applies to private providers; the market surveillance authority of the respective federal state is responsible. Evident is in its build phase (staging, not public); this statement will gain the date of the manual audit before public launch.
