Charging without a driveway
No driveway? An EV still works — only the charging strategy changes.
Realistic options
- Workplace charging: often cheap or free; the biggest lever for street parkers.
- On-street AC chargers: top up overnight; ~€0.45–0.60/kWh.
- Rapid (DC): a short session once or twice a week; pricier (see AC vs DC).
- Supermarket/mall: charge while you shop.
What it means for cost
Without home charging your energy price is higher. Set a lower home-charging share in the TCO calculator — energy cost rises accordingly, but usually still beats a petrol car.
Rule of thumb
Even a moderate workplace/AC share keeps an EV economical without a wallbox.
