AC vs. DC charging — what costs what
AC charging is slow but cheap. DC (rapid) charging is fast but expensive.
AC (home / on-street)
Up to ~11–22 kW. Ideal overnight. Household electricity ~€0.34/kWh, public AC posts ~€0.50/kWh.
DC (rapid chargers)
50–350 kW. Minutes instead of hours on a trip — but ~€0.60–0.79/kWh, almost double the cost.
Rule of thumb
Plan AC as the default and DC only for long journeys. The higher your DC share, the higher the energy cost — set it in the TCO calculator.
