Is leasing worth it?
Leasing shifts the residual-value risk onto the provider. For EVs, whose future value is hard to predict, that can be worth a lot.
The leasing factor
The fastest comparison number: monthly rate ÷ list price × 100. Under ~0.6 is good. Details in the leasing-factor guide.
Buy vs. lease
- Lease if you want predictable costs, switch every 2–4 years, and want to avoid residual-value risk.
- Buy if you keep the car a long time and want the lower total cost over the holding period.
Watch out
The deposit, mileage cap, and return condition decide the real cost — not just the monthly rate.
